I’ve played baseball for going on 8 years now and only just watched The Bad News Bears. I never played Little League as a kid, but if I did I would’ve wanted it to be on a team like this!
Watch The Bad News Bears for:
–Tatum O’ Neal’s badass pitching. (NB: Tatum O’ Neal had a pitching coach and trained for three months. You see her pitching in the movie, but there were stunt doubles for some of the shots, like the more technical ones.)
–The daisy yellow team colour of the Bears’ uniforms
–All the kid’s haircuts
Here’s the full blurb on the back of the DVD:
A major surprise as one of 1976's top-grossing films, The Bad News Bears is a movie about children that is refreshing, utterly believable, and quite cleverly funny. Walter Matthau is at his absolute best as the grumbling beer-guzzling former minor-league pitcher who gets roped into couching a band of half-pint misfits somewhat loosely called a team. With this bunch in uniform, it's impossible to get caught up in the suburban competitive spirit that drives other adults to extremes of parental discipline. So, instead, the Bears have a good time.
